Jeff has over 26 years of experience in which he has applied his Business Development, Operations Management and Technical skills to grow numerous companies into leaders of information gathering and analysis. Outside of work, he is heavily involved in the local community mentoring young entrepreneurs. Jeff attended the University of Nebraska and during football season can be found cheering on the Cornhuskers.

Alfred is a seasoned COO/Senior Executive with over 26 years of experience and a proven track record of developing best in class processes and implementing state of the art technologies. Buoyed by a foundation of operational delivery, Alfred is passionate about driving business forward by finding new and innovative ways to create world-class customer and employee experiences. A native of Tacoma Park, Maryland ultimately settling in Colorado, Alfred and his wife enjoy exploring a wide range of outside activities with their family of dogs.

Gene is a Senior Executive with over 30 years of experience and a proven track record of delivering exceptional operational performance. Gene is passionate about driving business forward by attracting and developing the best talent, motivating that talent to deliver on their potential and finding new and innovative ways to improve service delivery. Gene is a graduate of DeVry University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business & Computer Information Systems. A native of Colorado, he can be found enjoying the plentiful outdoor activities the Colorado Mountains provide.

Jim is responsible for overall client communications, productions and marketing. He has been with PIC for thirty-five years and began his career in the Pittsburgh office, was then promoted to an Account Executive and went on to become head of the department. His ability to organize and implement highly complicated campaigns for our clients has earned him high marks within the nonprofit world. A graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, he is an avid Pittsburgh sports fan. In addition to serving on the DMAW Board, Jim has spearheaded the Maxi Awards for the past six years. In his spare time he plays softball and bowls.

Scott is responsible for managing a variety of accounts from strategy and conception to day-to-day performance oversight to back-end analysis. Along with these responsibilities, Scott manages PIC’s state registration compliance by working with all of our clients and the states to adhere to the legal statutes regarding contract filings and financial reporting as a Professional Fundraiser. He Is very knowledgeable of all facets of PIC’s fundraising operations and has developed many close client relationships leading to successful campaigns. Outside the office, Scott is an avid outdoor adventurer. He has also coached youth soccer for several years which provides a very rewarding life experience.

Betty is responsible for the management of fundraising campaigns for multiple clients covering a broad spectrum of cultural and political issues. Betty came to PIC over 30 years ago after having lived abroad in Europe and Asia and in various regions of the U.S. A graduate of Chapman University, California, her interests continue to center around national and world events.

Dave was a PIC co-founder and longtime President. He is directly involved with all of PIC’s clients and advises them on the best creative approach for fundraising. He is responsible for all the creative products of the company. Dave is a graduate of UMASS and an Air Force Veteran of Vietnam. Dave finds additional creative outlets on the tennis courts and as a Washington Capitals season ticket holder.

Mike is in charge of telecommunications, networks and data for the company. His department is responsible for initiating and processing all client campaigns. Mike joined PIC 16 years ago and has over 25 years of experience with database management and IT security. The son of an Air Force pilot, he ended up in Washington and looks to the heavens as an amateur astronomer.

Karin is responsible for all of PIC’s printed fulfillment materials from the art and production stages to seeing the first bills go out in the mail. She is responsible for managing our very diverse inventory and supervising our in-house mail shop. Karin is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is very active volunteer in Northern Virginia’s animal adoption programs.

Clarke manages our Pittsburgh Call Center and is responsible for the implementation of all Outbound campaigns. During his years of experience with PIC, he has seen the evolution of predictive dialers to a highly sophisticated state, moved our office three times and during the Pandemic helped orchestrate migrating his entire staff from our call center to remote locations. As a journalism graduate from Ohio University, he started his career as a newscaster at a small station in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan but later turned his attention to authoring two books on baseball.

Melissa has worked at PIC in most job categories and brings a wealth of knowledge to her job. She is responsible for all Inbound Campaigns, and has mastered the art of blending omni-channel applications for the benefit of our clients. She has seen our Customer Care Center grow from Inbound Calls to emails, chats, bots and texting. Next up for Melissa will be the introduction of our new platform that will interact with 25 social media outlets. Melissa attended Dixie State University, Utah and is an avid camper and nature photographer.

Ken is a Co-founder of Public Interest Communications and past President. He helped lead PIC to its position as one of the premiere telefundraising companies in the country. From instituting new fundraising strategies to seeing PIC’s continuing addition of state-of-the-art equipment, Ken promoted innovation throughout the company. As a consultant, he continues to explore new telefundraising avenues. Upon graduating from the Baylor School in Chattanooga, TN, Ken signed up with the Marines and served in Vietnam. He is a University of Maryland journalism graduate and, when time permits, an avid golfer.

Joyce is a former principal of Public Interest Communications and has helped direct the growth of the company from 30 employees to over 100. As Chief Operating Officer, she managed PIC’s three call centers and took the lead in exploring new technology for both the company’s inbound and outbound operations. She has appeared as a speaker at DMA, DMAW and at the International Fundraising Conference in the Netherlands. A graduate of Elms College, Massachusetts, Joyce also pursued graduate studies in art History at Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan. She has been actively involved with CrisisLink a Virginia mental health nonprofit including Chairing the Board of Directors.

Maria is the former principal and CEO of The Smith Company, a leading telemarketing company specializing in Fundraising, Membership renewals, and Market Research and Polling Services. Maria began her career in telemarketing as a part-time employee conducting political surveys. Due to her demonstrated commitment, knowledge, creativity, and entrepreneurial ideas, Maria quickly rose through the ranks of the company. As CEO, Maria’s responsibilities included Client Services, Facilities Management, Program Management, and recruitment and training for all three company divisions: Fundraising, Survey Research, and Publication Sales.
